Just a quick post to update you on some fun going on in Room 126!
1. We started a graphing unit this week. In order to learn about plotting points for our line graphs, I asked for some help from some popular cartoon characters: Minions, a lego man, Spongebob etc.
I gave students a certain point, and we moved our friends around on my simple graph on the whiteboard. Students learned various vocab as well: x axis, y axis, point, and ordered pair.
We also filled our marble jar and had our popcorn and movie day! We watched a video from the Magic School Bus series about the Arctic (mostly because I think Pennsylvania is turning into an arctic wonderland!) The kids had fun with this reward and worked really hard throughout the second quarter filling the marble jar to earn this.
We also had a "Music in Schools" assembly and got to listen to some wonderful string instruments. After the assembly, a few teachers (including me) put on some baseball jerseys and baseball caps and sang "Take me out to the Ballgame!" We then announced to the kiddos that our Clermont Cares end of the year trip will be to a Lancaster Barnstormers game! Hooray! The kids were so excited and even all got to watch Cylo (their mascot) show off his dance moves! They even all got a chance to high five him on the way out the door.
Brace yourself for more of this crazy cold weather!
Stay safe out there!
