HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We are back!! I was so glad to come back to a three day week, really helped to ease us back into the routine. I was flipping through my phone and found a bunch of photos from the Christmas season that I never got an opportunity to share.

We wrote our yearly letters to Santa during writing. The big toy/"it item" this year in my class was "Skylanders". We got a response from the North Pole too! Mistletoe, Santa's secretary elf, wrote each student a letter back and we were able to give them out at our class Christmas party. We also did a fun card exchange. Each kiddo got a buddy that they made a holiday card for at home. They were SO excited to exchange cards at our party after all the hard work they put in! I loved this activity because it showed that home-made gifts are just as fun to receive.... and it was easy for everyone to be included (not just students who could afford a gift).

We made promise books for our parents as a special gift. They did a great job and really worked hard to make them look nice and neat.

I was the last teacher to take down my Christmas stuff (whooooops!) but I started my new icecream adjective bulletin board. We wrote stories that had to include the four adjectives we wrote on our icecream scoops.
It was a fun way to pick our own adjectives, and then find a way to include them in our writing.

I am beyond over stacked with work so I'm going to go finish that for my Sunday evening:) but I will keep on posting all that is going on in Room 112 in 2013!!

Happy, healthy new year to all!

Ps: Check out MY first grade ornament. I put this on the tree every year but it was crazy for me this year, as I was the teacher making these ornaments with my kids.. time flies!
