Living and Nonliving Things

Hola!

Hope everyone had a great week and your kids weren't running on a post-Easter sugar high!! We had a great week and I wanted to share some fun lesson ideas....

Our science lesson this week had students analyzing what living things need to survive. We made our very own "Is it Alive?" Flipbooks. Students have to draw a picture of an object, state if it is Living or not, and a reason why! I've attached a picture of my sample I used with my students!

We also did a fun group clay project to go along with our Guided Reading book "Clay Creatures." This was a step by step book so the children had to follow the instructions from their reading to create a clay creature in the book, we chose to make a caterpillar! :)

Lastly, my cooperating teacher introduced the CUTEST Kid-Writing assignment this week. It is definitely one that the parents will keep as first grade keepsakes.
Students first did a "sloppy copy" using the prompt "I feel happy when....." They had to come up with at least 8 sentences before they got Adult Writing. They were then given 9 plates (One for the cover) and we created our own "I feel Happy" books! Check samples out below!

Thanks everyone for reading! Have a great week and please follow me:)

Miss O.
