We were so busy this week starting all our fun new March activities and finishing up last minute February projects. We finished our Kid-Writing about Dental Health this week. Students pretended they were "Tibby the Toothfairy" and wrote some dental health facts for kids! (Tibby only likes to visit houses with pearly white teeth!) Students did really well writing from a different perspective and it was great to re-visit letter writing!
We also made our own March "Lions" for our classroom bulletin board and discussed what is meant by the phrase "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb!". Even with our mild winter we still had a few ugly rainy days, so the saying still worked out perfectly in our favor!!
The lions were super simple to make-- a yellow circle for the head, white paper to cut out eyesballs, and 8 orange strips for the mane. We then curled these strips by wrapping them around our pencils before we glued them on! Perfect easy craft activity to fit into the season!
Lastly, I wanted to share a project from our Geometry unit we did this week. My teacher brought in mini marshmellows and toothpicks and we helped students learn how to create a cube and a pyramid using their supplies. It was great for the kids to see how to construct a solid after having studied them this week. It really helped them to see it as a 3D object, instead of just an image on a workbook page
XOXO Miss O.
