Leap Day Fun!

I got lucky to student teach in a calendar year with "Leap Day!". In first grade this translates to lots of fun leap day projects including our cute little frogs we made with the class. In writing workshop we practiced our "note-taking skills" by writing down some facts about Leap Year we learned. We then used this paper as our Leap Frog's body, used an oval for his head, and created 2 tracers for arms and legs. They were pretty simple to construct and we got them done in 1 kidwriting session--- which is great for our slow but steady workers:)
We also added some leap day math to our day-- one of my favorite activities being counting how many leaps it takes to get down the hallway!
What leap day activities did you do this week? Hopefully in another 4 years I will be doing my own leap day games with my very own classroom.... what a fun day!
