President's Day

This week we made some super cute Lincolns and Washingtons to go along with our Presidential Kidwriting. Not only were they quick to make on our busy schedule but super easy material wise:

You would need:

Half a paper plate
Lincoln or Washington Hat Template

Cotton Walls for Washington's Hair

Markers for eyeballs and Lincoln's beard

The writing skill we focused on while making these was factual writing. My cooperating teacher read 2 informational picture book about Lincoln to half the class and I read 2 informational books about Washington to the other half of the students. We then created a chart paper list for each president of facts we learned from our stories. We could then use these facts to create our own writing piece about our President!
