What? A 5 day school week?

Good morning!
I'm writing this entry while scarfing down some breakfast before school, and I just may be half asleep. The kids and I are not used to these long 5 day school weeks. We were so spoiled from our holiday break and snow days. But now it is crunch time these next few months before our Spring PSSA testing. The kids had a lot of end of Quarter 2 testing this week and were great sports, really giving it their all!

Since we were on such a long break, this week has been spent reviewing our basic multiplication facts. We played a variety of math games, "Multiplication Memory", "Fish Tank Grouping" and even had a visit from our district technology specialist who played a fun missing factors "Headbands" style game with the students to review. These games helped to hold the children's interest while also having them practice/review their basic facts they began learning BEFORE all of this snow. I kept telling the kids who would stumble on a fact that they had "Snow Brain!"

Lastly, I wanted to share a video clip from a Multiplication Nametag activity we did on Tuesday. Students each got a different multiplication fact that they had to wear around on their shirt for the duration of math. Some choose to sport it all day! Students on the inside circle had to wander around until the music stopped. They then had to find a partner and introduce themselves, but not by their real name... but rather their math fact. Their partner had to repeat it back to them and then introduce themselves. The person on the inside would now switch with the person on the outside, so everyone got a chance to move and chat with each other.

Please appreciate my long Shhhh! at the end of this video--- our class was a bit excited and noisy ;)

And before I go, some of my favorite student notes from the past month or so ;)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
