Good evening everyone!!

Just came on here to write a quick post about all we have been up to in
Room 112. We have been trying to squeeze in as many fun Thanksgiving activities as we can.

The first thing I have to share with everyone is not something I personally did with my kids, but something our after school program did (and I received as a "gift" from my student).

How cute are these spoon pilgrims? Teachers: These would be an easy craft to incorporate into your shortened Thanksgiving weeks!

Next, I wanted to share with you the turkey writing we started (and will hopefully finish) this week. These are our "Thankful Turkeys". I've included the two photos as **freebies**. Just save the photo to download and use! We really worked on adding "details" to our writing. Instead of simple sentences.. I am thankful for _____.... we worked on adding "WHY" we were thankful for each thing we chose. We are working really hard and are definitely making improvements as writers!

We also wrote our first class book this week! It was entitled "Save a Turkey!". We had some pretty humerous writing responses about what we should eat in place of the turkey on thanksgiving. My favorite: blueberry, apple, and peach pie. Someone wants to skip right to dessert! :)

Also, our class became quite musical this week with our "Doubles Fact Rap". We had so much fun singing this all week, and it really helped our doubles facts to stick in our brains. ***Please ignore my booming loud voice! I'm no Jay-Z.

We also talked about Thanksgiving history this week and started our discussions about the Pilgrims. I found this great video to watch that really helped illustrate all that we talked about. We didn't watch the whole thing, but the first few minutes really helped give my first graders a visual to go along with the names/places we had been talking about.

We have a short week coming up-- and then its time to eat like crazy on Thanksgiving Day. Being from a large Italian family, we have enough food to feed a small country, so I'm looking forward to eating until I'm incredibly stuffed! To walk off those calories, I then plan on shopping till I drop. Found this funny e-card on Pinterest that made me laugh out loud:

So true! But I am truly thankful this holiday to have such a great opportunity to be employed (right after college in this economy!) and working in an amazing school/district. Not to mention my great group of kiddos! I am one blessed teacher!

Enjoy what is left of your weekend everyone!
