100th Day of School!

Now that I have sorta-kinda figured out the blogging world, I wanted to be sure to share some photos from our 100th day of school celebration!
We were busy, busy, busy all day with 100th Day activities including:

  • A 100th day poem (Which can be found at http://www.abcteach.com/Math/hundreddays.PDF)
  • 100th day Snack... Each student brought in 100 of their favorite snack (100 marshmallows, cereal etc) We dumped it all into one big bowl and everyone got to share! The kids LOVED it and it turned out to be pretty tasty... as always, just be careful with allergies:)
  • 100th Day Challenge--- Can you think of 100 different types of food? We did this as they were nibbling on their snack. The ideas were put on the board and eventually I copied them onto 100 hands, that the students traced and cut out themselves! We then put our hands outside around our door to show off what creative thinkers we are!
  • We worked on a 100th Day Poster--- Activities on poster included skip counting to 100, making a pattern with 100 circles, listing things you have 100 of in your house etc
  • After lunch we woke the students up by having them try to do 100 situps and jumping jacks!
  • During math we practiced grouping 100 objects in groups of 2, 5, and 10
  • We then had our 100th day FASHION SHOW! Students were asked to design a T-shirt at home with 100 things on it. They were very creative thinkers and got to walk the red (paper) carpet in front of all the other first grade classes.
  • We had so many other things planned (How many times can you write your name in 100 seconds, where do you get by taking 100 steps, Rolling dice until your get a sum of 100 etc) but there was just so little time in the day! I'm sure all of you teachers know how this feels:)

Check out some of the pictures and let me know any other great ideas anyone has for the 100th day!!
