Hey Everyone!
If you noticed a blog name change (No longer "Teacher in Training) it's because....
I found out I will be teaching 1st Grade at the school where I student taught! It is a long term sub position starting in October:) I feel so blessed to have found a position as a new graduate... especially in a grade and at a school where I already have experience.
I also found a brand new townhouse to share with some new friends and while I am excited, I'm also nervous to start my first (real, big-girl) professional job! (AH!)
With a new job coming my way, I have been browsing the web for creative new strategies and organization tactics to use once I get in the classroom. This lesson, by far, has been my favorite. It is on Mrs. Saylor's First Grade Blog and is perfect to use the first week of school to explain the ways you will be differentiating throughout the school year (in a way that makes sense to the lil guys!)
Check it out here: http://saylorslog.blogspot.com/2011/08/differentiation.html?m=1
It will definitely be a year of "Firsts" for me.. and I can't wait to begin! Wish me luck ;)
XOXO
Miss O.
PS: Best of luck to my fellow recent grads in all of their new careers! Especially to 2 my best friends- Miss McGowan and Miss Wagner....two new teachers that start school in a few days and will be fabulous educators!!
You will LOVE 1st grade! I have oodles and oodles of *freebies* and if you need ANYTHING, I would love to help out!
