Hey everyone,
I'm writing this
post back at home in the Philly burbs and I'm sad to say that my student
teaching experience is over :( I can't believe it went so quickly and I'm gonna
miss my class like crazy!
I couldn't have
gotten any luckier... my mentor was fantastic, my students cute as could be,
and I got to develop great relationships with the other faculty members. While
this is great, it also made it extra hard to leave!
I wanted to share
a few of my photos and lessons from the last few weeks....
1. Mother's Day Riddles
We do a lot to give thanks to our wonderful moms in 1st grade:)
We have our own concert program- filled with songs (sung to familiar tunes) all about our moms and give them a cookbook filled with all of the students' (Teachers' and Principal's) favorite recipes. Yum.

We also make our own "Mothers' Day Riddles". During Kid-Writing students brainstormed things that were special or made their moms unique. They were specifically instructed not to include their mom's name in the writing. They then wrote this on the front of their booklet, and completed step 2... a beautiful first grade portrait of their mom. At our program the moms were challenged to read the riddles to try and find their own... Most were successful :)
I wanted to send my student off with a little something to remember me so I gave each of them: 1. A pack of seeds that they can plant with their families this summer 2. A postcard with my home address (Keep up those writing skills!) and 3. These cute little lucky charm butterflies as a snack--- (Idea from Pinterest!)
And finally I took some pictures from my last day where I was spoiled with lots of teaching supplies, gift cards and hugs!
I have had a FABULOUS time in first grade and wouldn't change it for the world!! To all other student teachers out there: Enjoy it! The time flies!
Now.... out to the "real world"
Wish me luck:)
Miss Olindo
